Biography of Mrs Karen (Early Music Education)

Karen is a Tri-Cities mom of three, and a local performing arts educator. Over the past decade she has taught theatre programs in many SD43 schools and is an Early Childhood Music Specialist, working in early learning centres weekly throughout the Tri-Cities and Vancouver area.

Originally from Toronto, Karen studied musical theatre, and has a degree in Music Education from Wilfrid Laurier University as a Voice Major.

Additionally, she has trained at the Royal Conservatory of Music in the Pedagogy of Early Childhood Music Education. Recently, Karen has also begun to take tap dancing classes to fulfill a lifelong dream of having fun in tap shoes!

Currently, Karen teaches the SPARKLES, RED and YELLOW Music Classes at Place des Arts in Coquitlam, as part of the Musical Rainbow Program offered there weekly for young learners, 18 months thru to 6 years old. It is her firm belief that every child is worthy of having meaningful musical experiences in their lives and that an early engagement with music helps to shape and impact young learners at every level of development.
