Ms Matoula

Ms Matoula is the head directress at Creative Kids Montessori. She is a graduate of Century College where she obtained her Montessori and Early Childhood Education diploma. She also obtained her child psychology certificate from Langara in 2003 and has taken numerous courses in this field. Matoula owned and operated Creative Kids Childcare since 2000 and became facinated with education for children after the birth of her first child. She was introduced to the philosophy of Montessori when her children first went to Montessori preschool. She became so intrigued with this style of teaching that it led her to study Maria Montessori’s philosophy, curriculum and materials and receive her diploma in 2005. Matoula enjoys sports, travel, going for walks and mostly spending time with her family. Matoula lives in Vancouver with her husband and 3 children.

Ms Matena

Ms Matena is the Fine Arts Teacher at Creative Kids since June 2011. A competent, talented and highly motivated Early Childhood Educator that has created and developed an art and early literacy based program that will inspire, motivate and enhance the creative and intellectual minds of our young children. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the Emily Carr College of Art and Design & obtained her Early Childhood Diploma from Vancouver Community College. She has been responsible for the teaching, programming, and supervising of specialized preschool programs since 1991. She is the Mother of a beautiful little girl.


Ms Sonia

Ms Sonia is a certified French teacher, from Paris, France.
As well as holding a Degree in History and Ethnology, she holds a BEATEP (french diploma in special needs education).

Her classes involve a multi-sensorial and interactive approach and focus on oral expression and comprehension. She loves to provide opportunities for the children to enjoys learning french with using music, puppets, cards and drama games as part of the learning experience.

She has over 10 years experience as a teacher and an educator in France, where she has created and implemented French language expression and environmental education programs for children.

Sonia lives in Vancouver and enjoys hiking and riding her bicycle in beautiful B.C, as well as making music.

Ms Kirsten

Ms Kirsten grew up in Kelowna, B.C. with her family, skiing in the winters and spending summers at Mabel Lake. She has been working in Vancouver since receiving her Early Childhood Education diploma in Kelowna. Before doing her ECE she completed her Bachelor of Arts diploma in English and then went on to do Elementary education during which time she realized she wanted to do ECE. She loves working with children and loves her job. She owes her passion for children , generosity and work ethic to her parents. She followed in her mothers footsteps into childcare. She was an elementary school teacher before she stopped to raise 3 children. Kirsten lives in Vancouver, she loves nature and always enjoys her time spent outside.

Ms Tonya

Tonya has been teaching music since 1975 where she begun teaching the flute, guitar and recorder. She since went on to receive her Bachelor or Arts in Music from UBC and Education at Simon Fraser University. She is a facility member of Capilano University teaching at the Capilano College Community School

She is trained in Orff up to level three from UBC. Some of you may know Tonya from the Dunbar Community Centre which is one of the many locations that she teaches music to young children.

Tonya is proficient with the Flute, violin, African drumming and string instruments and is a member of many musical organizations.

Ms Onelis

Onelis was born and raised in Havana, Cuba. She holds a Food Technology Diploma from Juventud Rebelde College in Cuba, and a degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami.

After observing her daughter in attendance at a Montessori Preschool in Florida, she became intrigued with the Montessori ’s philosophy. It prompted her to take the Montessori Training in BC Soon after completing her AMI primary Diploma and ECE diploma at the Montessori training center of BC in 2014, she joined Creative Kids Montessori.

Onelis believes that children are active learners and will learn from the environment if it offers appropriate stimuli to their development. Learning is guided by a child’s developmental needs, and flourishes when the child is given time and space to observe, explore and investigate the environment and engage with it.
